"THE BOY WHO WATCHED TOO MUCH TV"
acrylic paint on canvas 4' x 5' 1971-2001

By the time I was 5 years old, I had spent more time watching TV than a college student spends in four years of classes. As the tube was forging my perception of the world, my mother would often say, "Don't watch so much TV, do something constructive with your life." Thank god I didn't listen to her. Now I watch TV for a living. Why did this painting take so long? This is the first televisionary painting. It began as a UCLA art school project in 1971, and the brain was added in March of 2001 for this show.
