"CHANGING CHANNELS"
acrylic paint on canvas with styrofoam and molded rubber TVs and toys. 2' x 3' 1997

I called this painting "Changing Channels" because the images on the screens looked like they were stuck between signals. Suddenly the Teenage Ninja can kick Barney's brains out of, Gilligan and Herman Munster compare the size of their organs, Howdy Doody teams with Butthead, Beldar Conehead makes a perfect romantic match with Marge Simpson, and the most popular singer is the hybrid Elvis F. Kennedy. After the picture had been done for several years, a friend came by and said, "This painting should be called "Fast Cars, Drugs, and Money Talks". It's probably a better title, but in my art (unlike my job producing for TV), I don't have to take suggestions.
